Asterisk and Perl
On Thursday May 19th, I (Simon Ditner) spoke to the kw perl mongers about integrating perl with Asterisk using AGI. I gave a brief introduction to Asterisk, explaining what it does and how it's configured, followed by some simple examples using the Perl module Asterisk::AGI and the Festival text-to-speech engine.
I always have a good time talking with the K/W Perl Mongers. They're a really great group, and I encourage anyone in the area to go to one of their meetings.
Some questions raised:
- Where is asterisk going?
- Is VoIP going to bring about the end of reliable telephony?
